Membership

Membership dues for the Montgomery County, Maryland AAHGS Chapter are $20/yr.  Membership in the National Society is a prerequisite for membership in the Montgomery County, Maryland Chapter.  Membership dues for the National Society are $35/yr.  The membership year of the Chapter is from January 1 to December 31 of each calendar year.

Surname Searches

We are gathering chapter member surname and geographic location research information. The goal is to help each other when searching for possible shared connections.  This knowledge is intended to promote the mutual exchange of information acquired during various individual research endeavors.

Cemetery Project

Our AAHGS Chapter has adopted the Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery located in Norbeck, MD.  Our goal is not only to identify who is buried in the cemetery but also to gather information about their families: parents, spouses, children.

Chapter Quilt

In Fall 2017 our Treasurer and Membership Chair, Wanda Jackson led a discussion on "Using Quilts to Present Your Genealogy".  With the information provided we began the creation of a quilt which displayed aspects of our Chapter members' research.

WITH THE ANCESTORS 

Joseph Douglas, Jr. who was one of the founding members of the Chapter, served as the Chapter Parliamentarian and helped to collect and organize our Chapter's surname research information passed on September 13, 2015.  You can read his obituary here.

E. Patricia Hallman, who was one of the founding members and President of the Chapter, passed on November 5, 2015.  You can read her obituary here.

Irene Curry, who was one of the founding members and and served as Treasurer of the Chapter, passed on December 9, 2018.  You can read her obituary here.
